CRYSIS CLIMBS TO TOP IN THE UK'S TOP 10 SOFTWARE SALES

Crysis 3 prevailed over Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in the battle of the tightly-suited killing machines, taking top spot by a mere 5,500 copies in this week's UK charts. It's the first week of the year to see two major releases go head to head, and while Crysis 3 had PC sales in its corner, digital purchases don't count towards Chart-Track's data.

Unsurprisingly given the series' roots, the PS3 was the lead platform for MGR: Revengeance, coming in at 61 percent. Xbox 360 sales dominated Crysis 3's retail performance with 57 percent of the share.

Dead Space 3 made it three weeks in the top ten, dropping to sixth, while last week's leader, Aliens: Colonial Marines, pipped the space horror to fifth place. Meanwhile, early 2013 chart successes Ni no Kuni and DmC: Devil May Cry left the top 40 altogether.

Top 10 UK Software Sales (All Formats); week ending February 23:
  1. Crysis 3
  2. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
  3. FIFA 13
  4. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
  5. Aliens: Colonial Marines
  6. Dead Space 3
  7. Far Cry 3
  8. Need for Speed Most Wanted
  9. Assassin's Creed 3
  10. Hitman Absolution

WATCH DOGS BOX ARTS ARE OUT

Aiden, the main character of Ubisoft's Watch Dogs, looks a bit preoccupied on the game's cover. Is he contemplating what to order for dinner on his fancy cell phone? Why is he holding a gun? He's not planning on paying for his meal, is he?

The game's box art is leaving us guessing, which is why we have higher-res versions to investigate in the gallery below, found on the official Watch Dogs North American and UK Facebook pages. The game is confirmed for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U, and is expected to launch sometime in 2013.

RUMOR: DEAD SPACE 3 AWAKENED DLC ROUSES MARCH 3 [UPDATE]

The first piece of Dead Space 3 DLC, 'Awakened,' could be stirring towards a March 3 release date. We know Awakened is coming sometime next month, but a post on the official Dead Space Twitter (now deleted, but screencapped after the break) in response to this tweet clearly noted a March 3 date. However, when asked about it later, another post reverted to the March release window, and "no precise dates" as yet.

It seems there are crossed wires at whoever's in charge of the Twitter feed, and the date may well be a mistake - March 3 is a Sunday, which is a bit unusual for DLC - so take it with a pinch of salt. In any case, we've reached out to EA for comment.

Update: An EA representative has told us that the company has "not announced a specific release date in March for Dead Space 3 Awakened."

ALL NEW PS4 GAME TRAILERS ARE OUT

PlayStation 4 (PS4) has been announced by sony but what about the games ? Well, not to worry because Sony also announced a healthy roster of games for the new console, which should be good enough to get you going when the PS4 launches later this year.

One of the first major titles is the new ‘Killzone: Shadow Fall’. The new game is set thirty years after the events in ‘Killzone 3′ in a new world with a new hero. The Helghast and the Vektans have been living side by side peacefully in this new city, but not for long.

You are a Shadow Marshal and part of a special force and it’s your job to maintain the balance between the two factions. The video below shows in game footage, with some amazing lighting and particle effects. The character animations, however, are surprisingly stiff, in some cases.

Next is Bungie’s ‘Destiny’. For those who are not aware, Bungie was previously owned by Microsoft and is the same company responsible for the ‘Halo’ series of games on the Xbox and they are making their PlayStation debut with ‘Destiny’, a new futuristic first person shooter. The game will be available on the new PS4 as well as the current PS3 and Xbox 360, with some exclusive content for the two Sony consoles

Next is a new inFAMOUS game, ‘inFAMOUS: Second Son’. The game features a new character Delsin Rowe who can direct, manipulate and transform into smoke and is based in Seattle, seven years since the Cole McGrath events. The trailer you see below is made using the game’s engine, running on the new PS4.

Along with these, there are a few more games, including ‘Knack’, ‘The Witness’, ‘DriveClub’, ‘DeepDown’ (working title) and ‘Watch_Dogs’.

Vergil ain't so tough (DMC 5 GAMEPLAY FROM MY PC)

I knew he would change his mind and I was hoping to get my hands on him. Guess what I never thought it would be so easy. Vergil is just a piece of cake, I expected too much. He use to be much stronger but now dante is much more aggressive than ever before.

Here is what i did:
  • You cannot fight him head-on, because he’ll simply block all your attacks that way.
  • Instead, attack him whenever he does anything to do damage you.
  • When Virgil goes down on one knee, go into Devil Trigger mode and then attack him to finish him off
  • Note that if you don’t have enough Orbs, fight his Phantom to get more.

(The screenshots below does not include any gameplay's pics, the screenshots here include only pics from cut-scenes)

Crysis 3 beta downloaded over 3 million times

More than three million players suited up for the Crysis 3 beta, EA revealed today. Ahead of the game's release next week on February 19, EA must hope that number translates into sales; Crysis 2 shipped at least three million units, but was also reportedly the most pirated game of 2011.

Based on pre-order stats, the early indications look promising for the third entry in Crytek's sci-fi shooter series. EA noted 40 percent more pre-orders for Crysis 3 over Crysis 2 in its financials at the end of January, and today that number holds steady enough at 35 percent.

The Many Modes of GRID 2

Hello racing fans! I’m here to talk about some of the modes and locations in GRID 2, releasing on PS3 May 28th. Let’s jump straight in…

Introducing: World Series Racing (WSR)

At Codemasters we love racing of every flavor, but professional motorsports have always been splintered into different disciplines and formulas around the world. One of the questions we’ve kicked around for years in the Studio has been simple – who is the greatest? Which driver from which series is the best? In GRID 2, we’re looking to answer that question with World Series Racing – WSR. It’s a new motorsport series that starts from the grassroots and grows into a huge Prime Time competition. Racers from different disciplines – street racers, drifters, track racers and more – all come together in one global series, with each driver moving in and out of their comfort zone. So who is the greatest? Join WSR in GRID 2 and find out…

Introducing some Modes

We’ve got a range of diverse events in GRID 2, so let’s introduce a few of them to you…
Race

Well, GRID 2 isn’t a driving game, it’s a racing game. That’s an important distinction. So it goes without saying that one of the game modes within GRID 2 will be Race. You know the deal, start fast, finish first and take home the glory. GRID 2 introduces a lot of new modes and features, but ultimately, we’re determined to make the best in-game racing experience whenever you’re behind the wheel and straight up racing is the heartbeat of the game.
Eliminator

Eliminator is a constant fight for position. As the event unfolds, any racer that is in last position when the time runs out is eliminated from the race and the winner is the racer who survives all eliminations. Keep up with the pack or you’re all but guaranteed to be eliminated, but careful as you trade paint with your competitors as one false move can have catastrophic results…

Checkpoint
Checkpoint is all about how you perform under pressure as you aim to cover as much distance as possible before the timer expires. You’ll have limited time to make it to the next checkpoint, so you’ll be expected to hit the apexes and find the right braking points to shave precious seconds off your time.

Stay tuned, there are more modes to come.

Locations

Variety is the name of the game when it comes to the racing locations in GRID 2. We have three broad stages of racing – Street Racing, Track Racing and Open Road Racing. We’ve recently confirmed the addition of two new circuits, Brands Hatch and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; two famous motorsport Meccas which join the previously announced Red Bull Ring and Yas Marina. Away from these tracks you’ll be able to race around cities such as Chicago, Paris and Barcelona as well as being able to take to the road along the California Coast.

We’re hurtling down the track and that May 28th release date is getting ever closer. Fear not though, because between now and then we’ve still got lots of exciting news left to share with you all. We’ve got new locations, new cars and more game features to reveal.

We can’t wait to see you on the track.
